Wheatie Mattiasich is a songwriter from Baltimore, Maryland who began performing solo works around 2004. Her music of the last decade has been mostly collaborative - involving mountain dulcimer and folk ballad inspired vocals, alongside multi-instrumentalist Stephen Santillan.
"One of this album’s many strengths, to my mind, is its willingness to find a language, a mode, and not interfere with it too much. These songs are built by slow accretion. They’re purposeful. I think of a ceaseless fabric, reminiscent of Wilburn Burchette’s Psychic Meditation Music—listening to this music can render you gummy, stir you into putty, spackle you in the cracks. It would be a mistake to believe that it is simple because it seems as if it could go on forever".---Chelsea Hogue Ohlman IL 2022 (notes for "Old Glow" release on Open Mouth Records)
Wrinkle:
Wrinkle was/is a Philadelphia based free-psych-folk collective in the grand cosmic tradition of Popul Vuh, Incredible String band and Tower Recordings, pairing acoustic songcraft and shimmering vocal harmonies with the outer realms of lo-fi noise and psychedelic textures. Begun in 2004, only ever existing in brief and extravagant bursts of marathon home-recording rituals and rare performances in open fields, rocky shorelines and darkened basements, wrinkle left in its wake a handful of home-dubbed cassette tapes and CD-Rs primarily distributed amongst close friends and kind strangers.
Members Jim Strong and Jordan Burgis parlayed these experiences into long tenures in the Philadelphia underground (Weyes Blood and the Dark Juices, Systolic Murmurs, Eyes of the Amaryllis, and the Quantum Spine Family of Sights & Sounds, amongst many, many others) while wayward mama heartbeat mirra esther roamed the earth foraging melodies from experiences deep and magical. A Wrinkle performance is a rare thing indeed, this being their first public offering in nearly 20 years.

"Argentinian guitarist Luciana Bass dismantles and loosens the bolts on conventional boundaries, blending blues and abstract improvisation in a journey marked by melodic passion and adventurous sonic exploration, crafting a vivid interplay between embraceable beauty and strikingly unexpected contrasts." - Squidco
"This record has stark aesthetic shifts, going between bluesy and abstract territory. After the first two pieces, which “set the ends of the spectrum”, the others move between these two languages. What’s cool is that this allows you to pay close attention to textural qualities of Luciana’s playing. She gets good snap on her pull offs and picking. There is a personal quality to this record that comes out of the juxtaposition of these sounds. As someone who started with rock music and now improvises, I hear in this music my own joy with the guitar".- Chuck Roth
